Tests Done in the Laboratory
The Soil, Water and Plant Tissue Laboratory has the capacity to perform a wide range of analyses. These are arranged into four(4) categories.
Determinations done on soil samples are :-
- Total Nitrogen,
- Available Potassium(K2O)
- Available Phosphate (P2O5)
- Calcium Carbonate (CaCO3)
- Electrical Conductivity (EC)
- Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC)
- Trace Elements (Mn, Fe, Zn, and Cu)
- Exchangeable Cations (Ca, Mg, K, and Na)
- Bulk Density, Hydraulic Conductivity
- Organic Matter (OM), Moisture (%)
- Particle Density
- Anion Cl-, SO42-, NO3- etc.
- Particles size distribution
- Exchangeable aluminum
- Exchangeable Acidity
- pH (H2O, KCL)
Analyses done on plant/leaf tissues are:-
- Total Nitrogen (N)
- Potassium (K20)
- Phosphate
- Carbonate
- Magnesium
- Sodium
- Trace Elements (Mn, Fe, Zn, and Cu)
Analyses done on Water samples are:-
- Sodium
- Chloride(Cl-)
- Calcium
- Magnesium
- Potassium
- pH
- Electrical Conductivity(EC)
- Sulfate (SO42-)
- Carbonate (CO32-)
- Bicarbonate (HCO3-)
- Carbon Dioxide(CO2)
- Hydroxyl(OH-)
- Total Solids
Analyses done on fertilizers, both organic and inorganic include:-
- Total Nitrogen
- Phosphate
- Potassium
